FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
1. Your website says the cottage is "private." We wondered how "private" and specifically can we work on all over tans?
This is a big reason why Plumeria Moon is so special. On Mondays our garner checks to see if your car is there, if it is she works somewhere else on the property. Every other Monday machine mowing and trimming happens for a few hours. Other than that, you can expect not to see or hear another human. What you do and wear affects only you. I suspect most of our guests are naked their entire stay... but only they know! My priority is your privacy and the property is also defended from wandering tourist by a private gate.
2. How secluded would you say the beach is?
Very, the public access to this beach is difficult and so usually only expert surfers or ambitious fisherman visit the beach.
3. How long is the path and is it easy to travel?
Your private path takes about 12 minutes from cottage to sand and it drops around 400 feet in elevation so the walk there is easy. The walk back includes about 200 stairs- most of our guests find it invigorating. The many beautiful things to see along the way (like nesting albatross along the trail) slow you down each way and make the trip fun and interesting.
4. How close is the cottage to the Pfueger property that had the huge environmental problems?
The North Shore is scalloped with dozens of small, medium and large beaches. Your beach, technically named Waiakalua Beach (but in the Pila'a area) is two beaches away from that beach. That event never had any obvious affect on your beach. I can tell you which direction to hike to see that beach. All land below the high surf mark is public land so you can walk along the coast anywhere that it's possible. Because there are no easy access beaches near Waiakalua Beach it rarely gets any walk through traffic.
5. Are the waters off the beach ok to snorkel in?
There is a large and shallow reef that protects the beach year round but it makes it impossible to swim. The water comes in over it and finds channels to get back out to sea so unless it is very calm it is not good conditions for swimming anywhere that it is very deep. On the edge of the sand there are several places where there are natural sandy bottomed pools to cool off and play in. There are many wonderful snorkeling spots a short drive from Plumeria Moon.
6. What sort of things like beach chairs and such are available (if any) at the cottage?
We have just about everything for comfort on the beach: umbrella, beach chairs, sand mats, coolers, towels..and a bottle of aloe vera gel in your bathroom in case you soak up too much sun!
I know....lots of questions. We just want to try to get it right for our vacation so thanks in advance for your patience!
No problem at all, keep them coming.
Warning: 1) Many guests are so delighted when they arrive and experience the peace and beauty of the cottage that they lose interest in the many activities they planned ahead of time. 2) Although 4 nights is our minimum stay length, it is a bit of a tease to be there for such a short time- one guest said it was "like eating half of a great meal".
